St. George Street Community Treatment Home
Rebuilding Mental And Emotional Health Together
Our St. George Street home provides a place where you can work on areas of your life that you wish to improve so you can return to living with your family or move on to independent living. With help from your support team, you and your family will build on your own strengths and develop the tools to:
- manage your feelings and emotions
- overcome substance abuse
- reconnect with family relationships
- learn how to make better choices in relation to your peers, school, family and self.
Clinical Overview
The St. George Street program is designed to meet the adolescent development, unique mental health and life experiences of each youth. The program operates through trauma-informed, relationship oriented and resiliency perspectives. A sense of intrapersonal, environment and interpersonal safety are key areas of focus that permeate the program as the youth work through past experiences and build new skills for success.
A multi-disciplinary team will be assigned to work with each youth and family. Team members would include the program supervisor, the primary case worker assigned, a social worker, teacher, youth and family, and others as the need indicates.
At the St. George Street home, youth and families work on and work out their issues in a positive neighbourhood setting. Our residential program near the centre of London allows residents to maintain close community connections, including family, school and work, while learning new life skills.
The program starts with listening to the youth’s story, addressing any questions about the road ahead, and deciding on goals, together.
Therapeutic groups and services at St. George Street include:
- Anger Awareness and Interpersonal Problem-Solving
- Victim Awareness
- Life Skills
- Clinical Supports from a Master’s level clinician
While youth in the program continue in their familiar day programs, such as school or work, they also have access to planned activities with other residents including recreation nights at the Y, barbeques and movie nights. The program is also flexible in supporting home visits and parent communications to suit the mutual wants and needs of the youth and family.
Let’s get SMART!
“SMART” goals at St. George are:
S – specific (Is it clear to you and others who are helping you?)
M – measurable (Can we evaluate this daily, weekly?)
A – attainable (Is it something that you can achieve?)
R – realistic (Does it “fit” for you and where you want to go?)
T – timely (Is there a specific time frame that you can achieve this in?)
