After-school Respite Program
A break in the day for you and yours.
Craigwood hosts a youth activity group twice weekly, from 3:00-8:30 pm, at our head office and community program centre in London.
The primary goal of the program is to provide youth with a planned and supervised recreational time away from home. This “away” time enables parents to refresh, look after the needs of their younger children, and take care of themselves.
In most cases, the youth who attend our after-school respite group are either on a wait list for mental health services and supports, or they are transitioning back to home and community after receiving our services and supports through other program. The group spends its time in planned activities that range from meal preparation to recreation to community based outings to games, arts and crafts.
All activities are supervised by experienced and well-trained Craigwood staff. This program is able to accommodate up to a total of ten youth, with five youth attending on one evening and another five on the second evening.
Summer Respite
Through the summer break from school, Craigwood offers an additional two full weeks of summer respite care with a day camp-like sessions.
Access to the Craigwood’s After-school and Summer Respite programs is provided through our Crisis and Intake Team (519-433-0334).
